20 Dumb Video Game Restrictions Players Hated
5. Can't Keep Playing In The Same Universe - Starfield
Despite the mixed response to the title, Starfield still managed to gain the appreciation of some of Bethesda’s fans. The studio’s immortal formula is very much present in the game, allowing the player to explore every part of the galaxy and interact with its residents in any way they want.
Still, there is one change to the way Starfield handles its open world, and it's one that is hard to stomach even by die-hard Bethesda fans.
In most Elder Scrolls and Fallout games the player is able to keep exploring the world after they finish the main story. However, in Starfield something different happens. When you complete the final mission, you enter a special New Game + mode, where you retain all of your powers, but the world's progress resets into one of its several alternate universe settings.
At first glance, this alternate universe scenario sounds like an exciting way to replay the game. However, in practice, all of your relationships with NPCs, including romances, will be gone, all your resources will be lost, and the outposts you spent hours constructing will also disappear.
If Starfield was a story-heavy game like Fallout: New Vegas, the resets would be fine, but since it’s more of an open-ended title with building mechanics like Fallout 4, this restriction forces you to never finish the game if you care about the things you construct.
