Every year, there's a game on this list that will be a triumph or disaster.

Enter Forspoken.

By now, you've likely seen Forspoken's infamous "So let me get this straight" trailer. A perversely entertaining car crash, the advert came across as a poorly written parody of the disgraced Joss Whedon's writing style. ("I'm seeing freaking dragons!" being a particular eye-roller).

Right now, Forspoken finds itself in the same territory that Halo: Infinite occupied after the latter introduced Craig to the world. Like a tightrope walker wobbling precariously between two skyscrapers, Square Enix's game looks like it will end up either a brave success or a sticky stain on the floor.

Personally, we feel cautiously optimistic that Forspoken can make it to the other side. The magic-based combat certainly has potential, and the super-powered parkour system looks like it will make exploring Forspoken's world a pleasure in itself.

And hey, Halo: Infinite turned out all right!
