20 Unlucky Moments That TOTALLY Ruin Your Game

18. Awful Spawn Point - Hitman: World of Assassination

In 2023 Hitman: World of Assassination released the Freelancer mode that allows you to play a special roguelike campaign in which you travel to different locations around the world, taking out procedurally generated targets.

The update is a lot of fun and adds even more replayability to the game, but it does come with one downside. Your perfect run of clandestine justice can be completely ruined by chance.

In Freelancer mode almost everything is procedurally generated. What targets you have to kill, what objectives you have to fulfill, and what locations are available at the current stage are all decided by chance. Most of these random changes can be overcome with skill, but there is one exception—spawn points.

Spawn points are also randomly generated in Freelancer mode, and while this may not sound so bad, some of the starting locations are absolutely game-ending.

Places like Hokkaido or Colorado can spawn you in the middle of a hostile zone with no way to leave but through a group of enemies. A spawn like this can easily end your campaign even if you come with heavy weapons, and the worst part is, you can’t really prepare for it, since your spawn location for the mission is always arbitrarily assigned by AI.
