20 Weirdest Licensed Video Games EVER
3. Aliens vs Predator: Extinction
0Ever since these two sci-beasties first got down to fisticuffs in the Dark Horse comics, there was an appetite for a video game adaptation - and boy howdy did the franchise deliver. There's been countless Aliens VS Predator games over the years, typically taking the form of a horror-tinged first person shooters or side-scrolling brawlers.
Both of which feel like natural fits for the franchise, however when Extinction rolled around, a few eye-brows were raised.
Taking the form of a real-time strategy game, this instalment tasks players with controlling one of three factions, Xenomorphs, Predators and Humans and enjoy top-down skirmishes between them, It plays like your standard RTS fare with quick-thinking and tactical unit management being needed to succeed but the AvP flavour adds something a little extra special.
Critical reviews were relatively mixed on Extinction upon release, with some finding the decision to make it console exclusive to be particularly wrong-headed as controllers aren't best suited to a genre that's typically played with a keyboard and mouse. In spite of that, Extinction remains an interesting curio for fans of either franchise, showcasing how there was still plenty of life and creativity left in the tank.
