6. Controversy
The GTA games have always been fraught with controversy. And its getting a little boring.
In Grand Theft Auto you have the ability to shoot, run over, beat and generally terrorise innocent pedestrians, as well as work with various criminal organisations to make money and of course, sleep with and subsequently kill prostitutes. However, none of this is a secret. Its well documented on the Internet and the games without fail come with an 18 rating, warning people of this content. And yet as sure as a police car will drive past when you try to carjack a Turismo there will be legions of parents complaining
Now the complaints of the games content have some justification - it should only be seen by mature audiences - but, as with exposing children to unsuitable movies, it is down to the distributor and parents to keep them from being exposed
Rockstar have in the past marketed controversy as a way to sell their games, but this time wouldn't it be refreshing to let the games quality do the talking?
