10 Worst Horror Movies Of 2026 (So Far)

9. Scream 7

As a horror franchise, Scream has been on a rollercoaster like few others. The original is obviously legendary and iconic, and the first sequel was strong, but Screams 3 and 4 were hugely disappointing, before the series had somewhat of a renaissance a decade later with Scream (2022) and Scream 6.

After Scream 6, the commercial success of that film made it a vindicated decision to make further Scream movies, but Scream 7 is undoubtedly one of the poorest of the lot.

The return of Neve Campbell was obviously exciting, and having her trauma passed down to her daughter made sense as a story, but the execution was poor. There were very few of the satirical jabs at the slasher world that put the franchise on the map, and as the run time went on, Scream 7 became more and more of a slog.

The worst aspect was the big reveal, which easily has to go down as one of the worst in franchise history. There was no clever twist or familial tie, no rules followed or formulas either repeated or mocked. By the time the killers actually showed themselves, it had become obvious, since there was no one else left alive who it could have been, and it was utterly underwhelming. Films like this often live or die by their conclusion, and this one died.
