5. Afflicted

Afflicted just might be one of the most underappreciated found footage films of all time, because this absolutely unhinged vampire movie is shot with a mesmerising level of technical panache considering its mere $300,000 budget.

The film certainly leaves the door open for a follow-up considering that the story ends with both central characters, Derek (Derek Lee) and Clif (Clif Prowse), now vampires.

But despite the film's considerable cult fandom in horror circles, Afflicted 2 never got made, and perhaps even more disappointingly, filmmakers Lee and Prowse haven't made any other horror films in the 13 years since.

This is likely because, despite the film's meager budget, it still only grossed barely $100,000 at the box office, and one is left to assume that streaming revenues haven't been enough to justify going back to the well.

Then again, it's entirely possible that Lee and Prowse always intended for Afflicted to be a one-off that left the audience wanting more, in which case mission accomplished.
