20 Awesome Horror Movies With No Sequels
4. The Final Girls
The Final Girls was an absolute delight - a smart, hilarious horror-comedy that wore its clear affection for the genre on its sleeve, while elevated by the tremendous efforts of a game cast.
The film follows a group of high-schoolers who are transported into the '80s slasher film Camp Bloodbath, and though Max (Taissa Farmiga) seemingly manages to survive the events of the movie in one piece, at the end she realises she's now inside the sequel, Camp Bloodbath 2: Cruel Summer.
It's a hilarious, organic setup for another movie, and considering how much love there still is for The Final Girls more than a decade after it came out, it's a damn shame that this much-asked-for sequel never came to be.
Though director Todd Strauss-Schulson has expressed his desire to make a sequel, he also confirmed back in 2023 that the film simply didn't make enough money, either theatrically or at home, to make The Final Girls 2 financially viable.
