Ace Frehley: 10 Awesome Solo Tracks You Need To Hear Again

By Reverend Rock /

3. €œRock Soldiers€ from Frehley€™s Comet, 1987

Alluded to at the end of the intro to this piece "Rock Soldiers" is the ultimate Ace Frehley anthem. It tells the story of the 1983 auto accident in which he drunkenly crashed his Delorean but escaped with his life. The tune€™s co-writer is Chip Taylor who wrote the definitive €œWild Thing€ made famous by British band, The Troggs in 1966. €œRock Soldiers€ leads off the Frehley€™s Comet debut album, beginning the trend of strong opening tracks and is considered by many fans to be his signature song. It is certainly belongs near the top of any Ace Frehley list.

2. €œWiped Out€ from Ace Frehley, 1978

On the topic of Ace songs about getting loaded, this one from the classic €™78 solo release is a gem, a great deep track that is buried on side 2 of the album, track 8 of the CD. I would argue that the €™78 album has more great tracks than not and that can make it difficult to dig out songs that are, perhaps, lesser known. €œWiped Out€ is one of those worth a second listen. Featuring a cutesy intro that pays homage to the €˜60€™s classic, €œWipeout€, the song€™s beginning totally funks out then digresses into what is quite possibly the heaviest chorus in any Frehley tune. €œI was wiped out, I had my lights out€€ Tune up your air guitar for this one.
