There's a tide of unhappiness on Wearside at the minute, thanks to the perceived betrayal of the entire mackem nation by a single flame-haired former employee born in Killingworth who chose to follow his heart and go back to Newcastle United. Jack Colback has now joined Steven Taylor - the formerly beloved (by some) Geordie centre-half with a penchant for winding up the Magpies' closest rivals - on the list of Sunderland's most hated personnel in the North East. And if that wasn't enough, the player will face a turbulent settling in period at his new club, as some fans reluctantly come to terms with the idea of having not only a former Sunderland player, but also a former Sunderland player who scored at St James' Park last year and celebrated a little too strongly for a boyhood Newcastle fans. The word Judas, inevitably has sprung up a lot since the deal was announced, but the simple fact is that the reaction to the signing has turned what is a solid, unspectacular signing of a versatile young English player into one of the most important transfers of the summer. And you can positively hear the Newcastle fans rubbing their hands with glee. With that in mind, we're looking at the biggest, best and most outrageous reactions to Colback's move to Newcastle...
10. Congratulations, Captain Obvious
https://twitter.com/TheSunFootball/status/476283919302524928 Obvious or not, The Sun weren't exactly wrong. The tide of ill-feeling poured quickly, and not just from Sunderland fans: some Newcastle fans tooks to social media to condemn the decision as the wrong move, considering the fact that the club is still looking for a direct replacement for Yohan Cabaye. But that stand-point is short-sighted: Newcastle need utility men, especially with the likes of Danny Guthrie, Dan Gosling and especially James Perch having left the club in recent years, and it would be foolish to think that Colback is anything other than a strengthening addition to a very small squad. If he plays, it's unlikely he'd be given the Cabaye role, especially with the club apparently actively looking at the likes of Remy Cabella.
