5. Matija Nastasic, Manchester City (Games Played 18, Goals 0, Assists 0)
The Serbian international was a shock signing from Fiorentina by Manchester City on deadline day last summer in a deal which saw the rather raw Stefan Savic go the other way. Many thought he would play a bit part role this year due to his obvious potential, but with lack of form and injuries hampering City's other centre backs he has seen more matchs than he expected. His calm ball playing and pace has seen him compared to fellow countryman Nemanja Vidic and he is keeping Joleon Lescott out of the team on merit. His skills are highlighted in the video clip at the bottom of this page, his match against Real Madrid in which he defied his age and showed an incredible amount of composure for a CB his age. Very little can be salvaged from Mancini's spending in the summer (they somehow managed to spend over £35 million and weaken their squad) but Nastasic is looking like the one gem in the fodder. Expect big things from this 20 year old.
