As if plunging the final nail into the coffin wasn't enough with his relegation-consigning own goal at Villa Park five years ago, Damien Duff would return to annoy the Toon Army with a match-winner for Fulham at Craven Cottage in 2011. Never a popular character on Tyneside due to the amount of time spent in the infirmary, the tricky Irishman proved to be the difference on a dreary Wednesday evening in west London three years ago. With both sides comfortable in mid-table and seemingly content with a goalless draw - particularly Newcastle following the last-gasp sale of Andy Carroll two days earlier - Duff woke up a sleepy crowd with 23 minutes remaining when he caught old team-mate Jose Enrique in possession before coolly firing past Steve Harper. While the game certainly didn't live long in the memory - and probably not even for the match-winner himself - it was still another example of a former Toon player returning to haunt the club who used to pay their wages.
