Celestine Babayaro was a hopeless left-back for Newcastle, having arrived from Chelsea in January 2005 and proceeding to turn in a series of uninspired performances for a Tyneside club in disarray. The former Nigerian international played 47 times for the Magpies before having has contract cancelled in December 2007. Not only did he spent a large proportion of his time on Tyneside struggling with injuries and his fitness levels but on the occasions that he did pull on a black-and-white jersey, he looked slow, lazy and disinterested as he wound down his Premier League career. Former Toon chairman Freddy Shepherd would later label him a 'disgrace' who 'didn't pull his weight' during his stint at the club. Nowadays, he is believed to be doing corporate work in Nigeria, aside from owning a sheep farm. Hopefully he keeps a closer eye on his flock than the wingers he was supposed to be marking at St. James' Park.
