Not since 1925 had Newcastle lost a match at St James by a six-goal margin, the last time coming in a 7-1 thrashing by Blackburn Rovers. In 87 years wed never been so obliging a host to another team until controversy-riddled Liverpool rocked up on Tyneside sans 30-goal leading marksmen Luis Suarez after his now infamous bite on Branislav Ivanovic. The Reds were forecasted to struggle without the services of Suarez in attack but his absence proved insignificant as Phillipe Coutinho showed himself to be an adequate replacement. The irresistible Brazilian ripped our defence to shreds and deserved a goal to go alongside his two assists that day. Jordan Henderson scoring twice didnt help matters either. The less said about Newcastle, the better. Another occasion where passion, desire and application were seriously questioned. It was as bad a collective team performance that has ever been served up in front of a home crowd just a week after being humiliated by Sunderland on the same stretch of turf. Woeful didnt quite cover it.
