20 Ridiculous Goal Decisions Referees Got Completely Wrong

7. Luis Suarez vs Chelsea, 2013

Luis Suarez is one of football's more... controversial of characters and it will perhaps come as no surprise to find him twice mentioned on a list like this. In April 2013, the crazed Uruguayan sensationally BIT into Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic's arm during Liverpool's Premier League clash with the Blues. The bizarre assault went unnoticed by referee Kevin Friend and to everyone's shock and dismay, Suarez was allowed to stay on the pitch. There would be yet more controversy to come because the Reds forward would go on to head in an equaliser in the 97th MINUTE to give Liverpool a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge. Simply put, Suarez should never have been on the field of play to score the last-minute leveller after taking a chunk out of Ivanovic and Chelsea had every right to feel outraged. Justice may not have been delivered on the day but a withering 10 match ban was not too far away as Suarez was retrospectively walloped for his actions. The South American may have helped his side pick up a point but that would be his last involvement for Liverpool that season and he didn't play again until September.
