Off to the world of women's football now with a truly astonishing handball that simply has to be seen to be believed. Australia are taking on Equatorial Guinea in the Women's Soccer World Cup in Bochum, Germany, in July 2011. The Aussies are on the attack, pressing their opponents and looking fairly threatening. A swinging cross comes in from the left and an Australian player flicks the ball up into the air and against the post. What happens next is one of the single most blatant hand-balls you will ever see. With two Australian players just queuing in line to smash the rebound home, Guinea defender Bruna grabs the ball coming off her against the post and holds it with both hands for a good three seconds as the referee bewilderingly lets play go on. Perhaps upon realising she is in fact NOT playing basketball, Bruna then tosses the ball onto the floor and play continues. No penalty is awarded and the Socceroos are probably denied a simple tap-in. Australia is stunned, a handball that would make even Diego Maradona blush goes unpenalised and YouTube has itself a new viral video to re-watch for years to come.
