20 Ridiculous Goal Decisions Referees Got Completely Wrong

14. Luis Suarez vs Mansfield, 2013

Luis Suarez has made headlines sometimes for all the wrong reasons since his move to Liverpool in 2011. Whether he's at the centre of a diving storm or being rebuked for biting an opponent, (more on that later) Suarez is certainly no stranger to controversy. In January last year, in an FA Cup replay against Mansfield Town, Suarez's Liverpool were being held to a 1-1 draw by the plucky non-league side. But the Uruguayan scored the decisive goal in the Red's shady 2-1 win as he knocked the ball to the ground with his hand before sweeping past the goalkeeper to send Liverpool through. Suarez caused further fury by KISSING the wrist of the offending left-hand as desperate cries of "cheat" rained down from the stands. Referee Andre Marriner and his assistants failed to spot the infringement and Mansfield's hopes of a famous giant slaying were cruelly left by the wayside. Liverpool and Suarez would eventually get their just deserts as they DID succumb to a giant killing later that month, at the hands of Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park on Sunday Jan 27.
