1. His Fractured Relationship With David Moyes

David Moyes' apparently imminent arrival at Manchester United as new manager will convince Rooney to stay, or so many thought, at least. There was a feeling of romanticism when Toffee's manager Moyes emerged as the favourite to succeed Ferguson. Player and manager being reunited at long last, 9 years after Rooney's departure from Everton. It's like a hollywood script. Moyes, after all, handed Rooney his professional debut for Everton. But it's not always been love-hearts and roses between the pair. In 2008, Moyes accepted substantial libel damages over claims made in Rooney's book "My Story So Far" about their relationship at Everton. Moyes claimed at the time Rooney's claims in the publication, which centred around an accusation of "a serious breach of trust towards a young player under his management", "injured his professional and personal reputation" and caused him distress. Rooney accused Moyes in the book of leaking a private and confidential conversation about the star's intention to leave Everton to a local newspaper, the Liverpool Echo.
