As well as rekindling his interest in Shane Long, Alan Pardew is also reportedly set to go back in for Mevlüt Erdinç. The Magpies have long been tracking the France-born Turkey international, and kept tabs on him during his days at Sochaux and later Paris Saint-Germain. Erdinç won the Coupe de France during his stints with each of those clubs and continues to impress at current side Saint-Etienne, whom he joined last year, scoring three times in eight Ligue 1 appearances. Newcastle failed with a £7.5 million bid for the 26-year-old in 2011 and may have to pay upwards of £10 million if they are to renew their interest this month. It remains to be seen however if said move will be a successful one having been snubbed by the player in the past.
