Luuk de Jong is thought to be top of Alan Pardew's shopping list this month. The Borussia Monchengladbach striker is believed to be a high priority for the Magpies, with owner Mike Ashley set to sanction a move in the coming weeks. de Jong set Europe alight in the 2011-12 campaign, scoring a scorching 25 Eredivisie goals in 32 appearances in his final season for FC Twente, before moving on to Monchengladbach. However, his stay in Germany has not been a success, and Newcastle are believed to be confident they can tempt him to the Premier League this month. Monchengladbach put down £12 million for his services two years ago, but director Hans Meyer revealed that, with the player falling down the pecking order in the side, he may be available for loan. A permanent deal could also be on the cards, and the German side are unlikely to ask for too much for a player who has since been deemed surplus to requirements.
