Yet another transfer saga that has dragged on for almost the entire summer, the proposed move for Alexandre Lacazette might well be creeping to a resolution after the striker was once more linked with a move, thanks to Graeme Bailey. There have been whispers of a big deal still to come, which is backed up somewhat by Luke Edwards' assertion that the club had a £60m budget and have so far only spent £40m (despite their attempts to deny that), and a proven striker would fit the bill. Even with Papiss Cisse coming back to fitness, it feels like Newcastle are limited up front: Emanuel Riviere and Ayoze Perez feel like plan B together, Facundo Ferreyra has been snubbed for no apparent reason and Cisse has struggled to score for two years. Bringing in another first choice striker - especially given the attempts to sign Loic Remy - seem nailed on.
