Spurs Transfers: 5 January Signings To Save Andre Villas-Boas' Job

By Joseph Dempsey /

1. Javier Hernandez

Manchester United's out-of-favour Javier Hernandez is another option for Andre Villas-Boas up front. The Mexican, affectionately known as 'Chicharito' - Little Pea - is on the fringes at Old Trafford and has been used largely as a substitute, still yet to complete a full 90 minutes for the champions this season. With Mexico safely through to the 2014 World Cup finals, Hernandez knows he needs more regular first-team football and has been tipped with a move away in the January window. The striker put weight behind this speculation earlier this month by using micro-social network site Twitter to 'retweet' an article by Sky Sports claiming he may have to consider his future if he does not play more regularly. The highly unorthodox action only served to pour fuel on the fires of gossip linking him with a move away, and Tottenham could attempt to profit from the situation by offering him regular football in the capital.
