6. Bigger Plans

1964 saw Newcastle council propose a multi-million sports centre at St James' Park. The new development would host boxing, badminton, cycling, athletics, bowling and table tennis as well as football. There would also be an all weather pitch.

The club opposed the idea and nothing happened.
