10 Doctor Who Actors Who Have Appeared In Blake's 7

6. Jan Chappell

Jan Chappell played the Auron telepath Cally. The most interesting and alien member of Blake€™s crew, Chappell brilliantly conveyed a character the viewer could empathise with and be suspicious of in equal measure. At times the writers went to town with Cally€™s extra sensory powers. There were too many Callycentric stories to the detriment of the other members of the Liberator crew but Jan Chappell was so good in the role, who can blame them? Chappell is the only actor on this list to have never appeared in any officially licensed Doctor Who product. Way back in 1994, though, in those long dark days for Doctor Who fans, Reeltime Pictures were creating quality fan made spin off dramas, direct to VHS. One of which, Shakedown, claimed Chappell as one of its top acting scalps. Terrance Dicks€™ story arguably became officially recognised a few years later when its novelisation was published in the Virgin New Adventures series. Chappell plays Lisa Deranne, the captain of The Tiger Moth, a solar racing yacht. Unlike her Blake's 7 character who was one of the first leads to be killed off, this time Chappell is one of only two survivors when her ship comes under attack from the Sontarans. The Tiger Moth is funded by a wealthy syndicate with Lisa Deranne especially chosen to take the helm. It€™s quite a contrast from her place on the ragamuffin, rascally crew of the Liberator, which was a team with no mandate or authorisation.
