3. Are You Being Served? (1972-85)

There were so very, very many reasons to love this show besides Mollie Sugden as the bewigged Mrs. Slocum informing her neighbor, "Open my mail slot, and when you see my pussy, toss a sardine in," even though that's what most remember fondly. The hapless team of retail store employees also featured the flamboyant Mr. Humphries (John Inman), Captain Peacock (Frank Thornton), Miss Brahms (Wendy Richard), Mr. Lucas (Trevor Bannister), and floor director Mr. Rumbold (Nicholas Smith) besides a plethora of others, and though a slightly formulaic script, it kept legions of Americans enraptured with a love that has never abated to this day.
