9 Great TV Characters Underused In Their Show's Final Season
4. Lindsay Bluth - Arrested Development
Now the story of a great TV character whose actor retired, and the one season who had no choice but to do it without her.
Arrested Development ran from 2003-2006 on Fox before an untimely cancelation cut the series short. In 2013, it came back for a fourth season on Netflix, followed by a fifth season, half of which aired in 2018 and the other half in 2019.
However, in all that time between the show's original airdate and its final season, Portia De Rossi, who played Lindsay Bluth, had retired from acting. Creator Mitch Hurwitz convinced De Rossi to appear in five episodes of the final season, enough to give Lindsay's storyline an ending.
As it turns out, five episodes is not enough Lindsay. After she leaves to find her birth family, the rest of the season suffers greatly without her.
Although Lindsay reappears briefly in the series finale, she's gone for too long and does too little to make her appearance in the final season worth it.
