Doctor Who: 8 Reasons The Master Is Definitely Coming Back

6. Some Bold Casting Choices Have Been Rumoured

Forget the Cumberbatch Master to the Doctor's Smith, what actor could go up against Capaldi's Doctor? The new Doctor is rumoured to be a fiercer, bolder, less-friendly version of the Doctor we've watched over the last two incarnations. Bearing that in mind, what kind of man will the Master be, to play a darker, deadlier counterpart to the titular hero? Well apparently there are some tasty rumours out there as to who might be playing this iconic villain. First up we have Michael Smiley, an actor who has worked with series eight director Ben Wheatley on Kill List, A Field In England and Down Terrace. He's known to play some intense, dangerous characters and his role as O'Neill in A Field In England shows that he's not afraid to play the antagonist. Perhaps he will be playing the very, very scary Master Sylvester McCoy spoke of? Though speaking of frightening actors, who better than the biggest rumour out there, Charles Dance? The idea of Dance versus Capaldi is an exciting one; the prospect of a battle of wills between these two could be the one of the most exciting things to happen to this show in years. Dance has already proven himself as the tyrannical Tywin Lannister in Game Of Thrones. Turning that performance into full-blown villainy could make him the greatest Master since the late, great Roger Delgado.
