1. The Current Rumours Surrounding A 'Three-Series Arc' For Capaldi's Doctor
As with everything in this article, we can only offer conjecture based on rumours given. But the latest rumour, if true, adds credence to the return of the Master in season eight. Apparently the next three series will deal with escaped renegade Timelords in the lead up to the return of Gallifrey. It would certainly add a very personal story line for the Doctor. Forced to fix the problems created by his own people, men and women he may very well have worked with or known in his earlier incarnations, will be a very different scenario to the aggressive action of the Daleks or Ice Warriors. The Meddling Monk? Perhaps that is Ben Miller's Sheriff of Nottingham. The Rani? Keeley Hawes' Ms Delphox. The Master is the biggest of the lot. Teaming up with the Monk or Rani would be an interesting new path for him. (He already did with the latter in the Sixth story The Mark Of The Rani). Imagine too, what new time lord villains Moffat and his writing crew might come up with. There is certainly a lot of scope for the Master to make a comeback and the clues appear to be there. He first appeared in the original series eight, played by the legendary Roger Delgado, where he became the Moriarty to the Third Doctor's Sherlock. With series eight of 'Nu Who' (or 34 if you're traditional like me), it's the perfect time to revisit the Master once more. Are you convinced by the rumours? Do you want the Master to return or did John Simm's Master leave a bad taste in your mouth? Who would be your top choice for this iconic villain?
