If people remember one thing about "The Idiot's Lantern", it is either the faceless people, or the newscaster growling "I'm HUNGRY," in a manner reminiscent of The Little Shop of Horrors. Unlike the old horror movie, however, the Wire did not make her victims mysteriously disappear (by eating them). In fact, they were scarier than their attacker, particularly when Tommy's grandmother was first revealed. Besides, in the end, the Wire was defeated by being recorded onto a VHS. Intuitively, this should make her stronger, by giving her data more places to reside, but instead this apparently trapped her. And if the Wire can truly be killed by being recorded over, then she has a much weaker force of will than she seems to when stealing faces. Just like House, the Wire could have been a scary villain, if only she were better-written.
