Doctor Who: 11 Awesome And Nerdy Fan Creations

7. Time Lord Rock

Many fandoms have nurtured fan clubs, fan film makers, fan fiction, and fan art, but few have inspired musical genres. Doctor Who is one that has. TRock, or Time Lord Rock, was created by youtube user Alex Day aka Nerimon, and heavily influenced by the Harry Potter inspired Wizard Rock. Nerimon€™s band Chameleon Circuit wrote the first TRock song, Blink, based on the fan favorite episode of the same name, as well as the silly and fun An Awful Lot Of Running, and invited others to join in the fun.Not really a genre, per se, the bands that comprise TRock come from many different musical backgrounds. Chameleon Circuit is poppy and rock based, The Doctor€™s Daughter aka Raven Zoe is acoustic folk influenced, and Time Agency are full on electronic, to name just a few. There€™s a little something for everyone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DubqPqJdYA0&feature=player_embedded There was even a compilation album released called Trock On!, curated by Chameleon Circuit€™s Alex Day in 2009. These aren€™t the first songs written about Doctor Who, those would include the memorable Doctorin€™ The Tardis by The Timelords aka The KLF, I€™m Gonna Spend My Christmas With A Dalek by the 1960s incarnation of The Go-Gos, and of course Doctor In Distress, the Live Aid style song from the 1980s that actually featured Colin Baker. While these bands probably won€™t be charting any time soon, TRock has developed quite a following worldwide. You can pick up the Trock On! CD at amazon.com.
