In €œKing Kong€, Peter Jackson manages to make us believe a giant ape is wandering through 1930€™s New York. The most striking thing about these scenes is the attention to detail in the portrayal of a city from the past, even more so than the digitally created monster that stumbles through it. A detail-oriented approach is perfect for "Who" where a fan is sure to spot the tiniest bit of anything out of place in each episode. It can be argued that even €œLord of the Rings€ is a historical construct in the sense that it€™s a world where modern technology has not yet appeared €“ there is no electricity, horses are the main mode of transportation. Yet much like the €œWho€ universe, fantastic elements weave seamlessly through this time and the denizens of the era grapple to understand them. Gandalf is a kind of Doctor-ish figure who lends his help but his ultimate goal, as is the Doctor€™s, is to lead the other characters into finding strength within themselves.
