He already loves Doctor Who. Most of the best episodes of Doctor Who are written and/or directed by fans €“ people who love this character so much they would do almost anything to spend time with him. This deep and abiding faith in the power of the Doctor€™s story has given rise to some of the most compelling television ever produced. Take Neil Gaiman€™s €œThe Doctor€™s Wife€ for example. Gaiman is a life-long admirer of Doctor Who having watched classic "Who" as a child. His books, such as the Sandman series or American Gods, are obviously influenced by €œWho€ though he has, of course, carried the story off in his own quirky and dazzling direction. There€™s no substitute for a love for this brilliant yet flawed character €“ the Doctor €“ and it€™s something that can€™t be faked. Peter Jackson cares deeply about the Doctor and the Doctor€™s world. Even if his episode wasn€™t perfect, which of course it won€™t be because nothing ever is, I can€™t imagine it wouldn€™t be a fascinating, thought provoking and riveting entry into the mythos of Doctor Who.
