36. Wish World/The Reality War

The Fifteenth Doctor’s second season finale makes for a more exciting watch, thanks to stuff like UNIT battling Bone Beasts and the Doctor zooming around on a air scooter.

However, it’s also deeply flawed.

Wish World gets things off to an ok start, but The Reality War just has far too much going on.

Its worst crimes are in the reshot final 20 minutes – Kate calling everyone the Doctor’s “children”, Belinda being lumbered with a baby she never asked for, and the Doctor regenerating into Billie Piper (a cliffhanger which will probably never now be resolved).

But even before that there are some major misfires – from Belinda spending the entire middle act trapped in a box, to Omega returning as a giant CGI skeleton who sticks round for all of three minutes.

As the end point of the Fifteenth Doctor’s era, and NuWho as whole, it’s just such a joke.
