Doctor Who: Every Russell T Davies Episode Ranked From Worst To Best

33. Love & Monsters

Enough time has passed. Love & Monsters is not the absolute worst episode of Doctor Who ever.

Unlike a lot of RTD2 scripts it feels like it actually has something to say – about how the Doctor brings people together (and by extension, the way Doctor Who does the same).

LINDA is quite clearly inspired by Doctor Who fans. And the Abzorbaloff is that one fan who ruins everything for everyone else.

Plus we get to spend more time with Jackie Tyler, which is always a good thing. The stuff with Elton’s mum is really moving. And the soundtrack (both the ELO songs and the original stuff) absolutely rules.

Unfortunately there's also some unforgivably daft and plain unwatchable stuff in there too, from the Abzorbaloff scenes to “a bit of a love life”, which taints the whole episode. And those are the only bits anyone remembers.
