Doctor Who: Flux - 15 Huge Details We Just Learned About Series 13
2. The Weeping Angels Will Be "Developed"
The last time the Weeping Angels got their own episode back in 2012, they were making us bawl our eyes out by zapping away Amy and Rory. The iconic villains are due a comeback, and it's about time the Doctor avenged our fallen Ponds!
Though the Angels are pretty much universally-beloved within the Doctor Who fandom, they have received some criticism for all the abilities they gained in their post-Blink appearances. Some people consider these strange and unnecessary additions to their lore, and that the Angels were stripped of their terrifying simplicity.
So, the question then becomes... will Chibnall flesh them out even further? Or will he portray them like they were in Blink? Well, based on recent comments made by Strevens, fans might want to brace themselves for the former:
"We’re bringing back the terrifying Weeping Angels who have a very sinister role to play, and a very different role to play. it’s quite an interesting development to their story if you like."
Though Blink is undoubtedly the Angels' strongest episode, The Time Of Angels/The Angels Take Manhattan are fantastic outings too. In other words, it's very difficult to get these villains wrong - so fingers crossed Chibnall follows that trend.
