6. Soldiering Responsibility

There is power in a name. We tend to live up to the words we are called. General and soldier are titles. They do not indicate all that a person is. Or acknowledge the fact that we can switch roles. When the Doctor hands Danny control he sets him on a path to redemption. Danny took an innocent life but he is not irredeemable. Forgiving himself does not mean he ceases responsibility for his actions. But it allows him to move on and accept a heroic role. The Doctor finally realizes he does not have to label himself or accept the labels of others. Is he a good man? No. He€™s not a bad man either. He€™s just a man who€™s been through a lot of life. It may seem cruel for him to leave the job of activating Danny€™s inhibitor to Clara but was it really? Who would Danny rather touch him at that point?
