Flatline has a delightful way of playing with our perceptions of size. Not just physical dimensions but also in terms of scale of the situation. What is important depends upon who is doing the observing. Rigsy sees danger, Clara see an opportunity to take control and community service worker Fenton, as evidenced by his reaction to the psychic paper, sees nothing at all. As the physical world destabilizes around her Clara fails to see her shifting morality. The crew of community service workers dwindles without much notice on her part. A slew of deaths that might have once horrified her are now dismissed in her zeal to stop the inter-dimensional incursion. Clara relishes leadership but does not stop to reflect on the suffering that taints her victory. Will this taste of power corrupt her? Is that why Missy was so pleased at Claras reaction to the situation?
