The Moon card is a reminder that we travel in the dark, never knowing for sure which path is the right one. It is the card of misleading and illusion. Everyone in series eight is lying to everyone else. As Maisie points out after overhearing a rather heated conversation the Doctor is a liar. He does not hesitate to deceive if it serves his own ends. Yet he is not the only liar. Clara is less than forthcoming with both the Doctor and Danny. What is the purpose behind Claras behavior? Is the message that she cant have it all? Why does she need to define herself by the wishes of the other people in her life? Must she hide parts of herself in order to be accepted? It undermines her character to imply that she is somehow less interesting or less worthy without the Doctor or Danny. Clara is doing an awful lot of compromising to keep these two relationships going.
