Doctor Who Review: The Zygon Invasion – 7 Reasons Why This Is The Perfect Setup

By Mary Ogle /

1. From Invasion To Inversion

Where do we go from here? That€™s a hard question to answer as there was very little to indicate where this story is taking us. Whatever happens it€™s most likely Bonnie will be driving the action and Osgood will be the key to the resolution in whatever form it takes. This was such a good setup that it€™s almost hard to imagine the payoff being good enough to meet such high expectations. The last episode written by Peter Harness, €œKill the Moon€, ended with the moon hatching into a dragon that literally laid an egg. Let€™s hope this story gives him enough time to come up with something that is less silly and pointless and more in keeping with the current episode€™s promising premise. €œThe Zygon Invasion€ is another strong addition to the wealth of great episodes that make up series nine so far. While Peter Capaldi€™s Doctor is kept mostly on the sidelines for this story his presence is always felt and he lights up the screen in every scene he€™s in. Jenna Coleman is absolutely perfect as both Clara and Bonnie, effortlessly switching from loyal friend to cunning enemy. The guest actors all held their own within a large cast and there was not a moment when it was easy to take your eyes off the action. If this is any indication of the quality of the sequel then €œThe Zygon Inversion€ is going to turn each and every one of us completely inside out.
