64. Away Jacket - Mid 2250s

The away jacket, worn by officers and technicians in the early-to-mid 2250s, consisted of a dark grey material. It was worn over a utility harness that allowed the person to holster their laser pistols and communicators.

Officers wore jackets with a white stripe on the sleeve, while technicians wore blue, and yeomans didn't wear a stripe. This jacket, first seen in The Cage, inspired the later variants seen in Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, with the latter offering a more streamlined, lighter version.

The Strange New Worlds version had a zipper running up the front of the jacket and bore the crest of the individual ship on the left shoulder. A heavier version was worn by Captain Pike in Through The Valley Of Shadows, bearing rank-indicating epaulets on the shoulders.
