Star Trek: Every Starfleet Uniform Ranked From WORST To BEST
52. Starfleet Jumpsuit - 2140s - 2160s
Designed by veteran Star Trek costumier Robert Blackman, the jumpsuits that appeared in Star Trek: Enterprise were a more utilitarian take on Starfleet. This uniform, depicted as one of the earliest variations on the theme, resembled workwear of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, with pockets for all occasions.
This was a departure from the streamlined uniforms that would chronologically follow, suggesting a Starfleet that was more about getting the job done, rather than exploring the existential merits of said job.
The division colours matched those that would follow in Pike's and Kirk's time, though the colouring scheme was interrupted for several years in the mid-2200s. The rank insignia were worn on the left breast, similar to the deltas that would follow.
Though hardy and practical, these uniforms lacked a certain sense of style that Starfleet would come to be known for, suggesting an era that had far more immediate concerns than the look of the officers within. The dress variants of these jumpsuits, as well as those worn by flag officers, were largely the same as those worn on standard duty. Captains added a white undershirt to denote special occasions.
