27. Dress Uniform - 2375

The dress uniform, introduced in Star Trek: Insurrection, quickly replaced the versions worn in The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager. Designed by Robert Blackman, these were created with the express purpose of 'popping', as Blackman stated in the Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion:

No matter what, white over black has a formal look to it.

These were seen once in Deep Space Nine, featuring the first and to-date only live-action example of a flag officer variant, which was almost identical to the captain's version. It had an added red band on the sleeve, along with the standard sleeve-mounted rank insignia.
