16. Constitution-Class Uniforms - Late 2250s

For Star Trek: Discovery's second season opener, Brother, Gersha Phillips designed a new variant of The Original Series' uniform. The bright colours of the different departments were introduced, including red for Operations and Security.

Director Olatunde Osunsanmi approved the use of these uniforms, believing they captured the joy of The Original Series, marking a shift in direction for the show. Quoted in an interview with StarTrek.com, he said:

I think season one felt darker in general, and we knew right off the bat we wanted to go to a lighter tone

Though Brother includes a line suggesting the Enterprise was assigned these 'new' uniforms over the Discovery, the novel Desperate Hours by David Mack states that the uniform was unique to Constitution-class vessels.
