14. Starfleet Away Gear - Late 2270s/2280s

The excursion jacket that was introduced in the late-2270s was designed to function better for away missions, providing ample storage for whatever the wearer might require.

The right sleeve bore rank insignia above the ribbed cuff, while that ribbing extended along the side of the jacket, and inside the wide-brimmed collar.

Often paired with a tricorder on a leather shoulder strap, this jacket was seen most prominently in The Wrath Of Khan and The Search For Spock, though one made a cameo appearance in The Undiscovered Country. 

According to Mr. Scott's Guide To The Enterprise, written by Lora Johnson in 1987, this jacket contained a transponder that would theoretically let the starship know when the wearer was lost.

This jacket was often paired with an excursion-style vest. Admiral, later Captain, Kirk wore at least two variations of this vest between The Wrath Of Khan and Generations.
