Star Trek: Every Starfleet Uniform Ranked From WORST To BEST
12. Starfleet Standard Uniforms - Late 2250s - Early 2260s
In a period of rapid change, Starfleet introduced another uniform variation in 2259, although the events of Among The Lotus Eaters suggest it was available as early as 2254. This was similar to the Constitution-class variant introduced in Brother, though it removed the asymmetrical collar and zipper for a more comfortable design.
Unlike the uniform shown prior, this seems to have gone into wide use. The crews of the Enterprise and the Cayuga both wore this style, as did Montgomery Scott, who was assigned to the solar research vessel USS Stardiver.
This uniform retained the Delta on the left breast seen in Discovery's second season, though it moved the rank insignia to the sleeve cuffs. A Delta pattern was added from the shoulders, running down the length of the sleeves. Gold, Blue, Red and White remained the department colours, although Dr M'Benga had another variant - light blue, with a chest flap that could be opened.
The Enterprise was also equipped with tactical field uniforms, retaining the body armour introduced in Discovery. A new, grey field jacket was also available, bearing the individual ship's path on the left shoulder. This era also included a 'skant' for male and female crewmembers, as well as a medical one-piece jumpsuit. Flag officers wore a black variant with additional gold ornamentation.
