7. Monster Maroon - Alternate Federation-Romulan War Era

The uniform introduced in the Strange New Worlds episode A Quality Of Mercy is a variation of the 'monster maroon' uniform in use from the mid-2270s into the 24th Century. Costume designer Bernadette Croft took inspiration from those uniforms first seen in Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan, updating them to bring them more in line with the current uniforms of 2259.

They retained the chest flap, shoulder strap, and wrist strap, now adding the Delta pattern from the Strange New Worlds duty uniforms. The Delta on the left breast was a direct reproduction of those introduced in the film, as was the belt.

One key difference between this alternate version of the uniform and those seen in The Wrath Of Khan is the Admiral's gold piping that is missing from the black border of the chest flap.
