10 Awesome Wrestlers WWE Sacrificed For The Greater Good

5. The Revival (Raw 25 - 22 January 2018)

Sigh.

Though not without its fun moments, Raw's 25th anniversary was an absolute mess of a show, and WWE's decision to feed The Revival to seemingly every over-the-hill dad present in the Manhattan Center was the night's most egregious.

Dash and Dawson had just fallen to Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows in a two-minute squash. The Revival had interrupted D-Generation X's in-ring backslap-fest beforehand, and broke up the celebration as DX, Balor Club, and Scott Hall farted around afterwards. The burial began with the former Diesel flicking his toothpick in Dawson's face. X-Pac and the New Ages Outlaws then played signature move roulette, before Shawn Michaels uncorked a Sweet Chin Music, Triple H got the Pedigree, and Balor finished things off with a Coup de Grace.

The Greater Good:

That Balor got the final move in opens the argument that WWE were trying to give him and his Club a rub. Regardless, the segment's primary function was to pop the nostalgia crowd with the old geezers, and to that end, it succeeded. Casual fans and those who only tuned in to see their old favourites probably didn't give a hoot that Dash and Dawson had been squished.
