At WrestleMania 22, Mickie James was a fresh face going after established star Trish Stratus and the comparative veteran's Women's Title. Bagging a spot on the biggest pay-per-view of the year was nothing to sniff at for Mickie, but she almost ruined her run before it properly got started with one snap decision.

Mid-match, James made a "V" gesture (the "V" doesn't stand for 'vacuum'...) and licked her fingers to simulate cunnilingus. Behind the curtain in Chicago, one Vince McMahon was left fuming by this. He admonished the newcomer backstage after her match, and made it crystal clear that she was never to go into business for herself again.

Yes, there was a splash of irony about McMahon's words - he'd made a tidy living for himself by rebelling against authority to do exactly whatever the hell he pleased, but here he was warning somebody against doing the same. In fairness, WWE probably felt like they'd been caught off guard.

They removed the taunt from future versions of the show and panned to a live crowd shot instead. In Mickie's defence, she'd been booked to go all creepy stalker on Stratus heading into 'Mania, so James likely thought her gesture made sense.

Perhaps, but it certainly wasn't welcomed or necessary in the eyes of those calling the shots, and they wanted to let her know about it. Naturally, WWE couldn't scrub screen grabs or other unofficial clips from the internet, but they didn't want Mickie's taunt on the DVD.
