10 Biggest Misplaced Complaints About WWE Today

5. Jinder Mahal's Push

Jinder Mahal’s sudden push towards WWE Championship contention came out of nowhere. The former 3MB member secured his title shot with a big win on last week’s SmackDown, and he’s been the talk of the internet ever since. Unfortunately for Jinder, much of the reaction has been incredibly negative, and for many fans, his push is the worst kind of surprise.

Mahal is a career jobber who has rarely impressed between the ropes, and even accomplished the miraculous act of having a bad match with Cesaro at Fastlane. From this standpoint, his title shot makes no sense whatsoever, but the reason behind his sudden ascension becomes clearer when you scratch beneath the surface.

India is a growing market, and putting Mahal in a position of prominence should give the country’s massive fanbase an avatar to get behind as WWE expand their operations. Fans will groan, and his match with Randy Orton probably won’t blow anyone away, but it makes business sense to push wrestlers native to a territory WWE have pinpointed for an expansion. It’s the same reason there are currently close to a dozen Chinese wrestlers in the Performance Center, and for as long as WWE are dedicated to breaking India, Jinder will be in the spotlight.
