10 Biggest One Hit Wonders In Wrestling History
8. Leva Bates
Known for: wearing a fetching pair of blue slacks that don't at all resemble the pair displayed on the depressingly grey WWE-licensed merchandise that could be purchased by parting with twenty-five of your hard-earned American dollars.
It was the embodiment of the belief that if something and/or someone got uproariously over with WWE's oblivious core audience, it would be dug deep into the ground. They are incapable of allowing the natural progression of a gag. The same thing happened when James Ellsworth, another indie wrestler who, like Leva Bates (the wrestler behind the blue-trousered facade), was brought to WWE on a one-off jobber gig and got massively over for his lack of a chin.
Why didn't she thrive after: because she was typecast as a regular, everyday lady who happened to purchase the correct pair of trousers from Walmart. There was little advancement WWE could make with her without stripping her - excuse the poor phrasing - of what made her popular in the first place.
Leva joined the upstart AEW in 2019, yet she hadn't developed as a performer; instead, she served as the women's division's go-to loser. She remains active on the North American indies in 2025, though her bookings are few and far between for a wrestler who has had regular gigs in both of the world's largest pro wrestling organisations.
